Spring 2024 Boys Tennis Tryout Information

Monday February 26 through Thursday February 29, at the College Boulevard Activity Center Tennis Courts (across Lone Elm to the West of Olathe Northwest High School) from 3:30 until approximately 5:30.  Depending on player count and court availability, some players may be sent to the ONW school courts.

All players MUST have proper physical and concussion paperwork on file in the office (this is digital now) BEFORE participating in tryouts.  (See "important links" page under "home" of this website)

Tryouts will be in the form of singles challenge matches, with a maximum of 24 players making the roster, along with the following rule:

• any senior must end up in the top 12 to make the team (this policy is in place to ensure JV matches serve the correct purpose, and the limited court space at ONW goes to developing players who have a chance to contribute at the varsity level in the future)

Weather during tryouts is typically COLD, and players need to be prepared to play tennis continuously for up to 2 hours during this process. Make sure to bring anything you'll need to stay warm in between matches!

General season information:

Practices are held Monday through Friday, 3:30-5:30 in general. Specific schedules, that are updated regularly, can be found under the "schedules" tab of this website.

Players need to provide their own racket to use during the season, and players will also pay a uniform fee, (estimated to be  $30-35) which covers a shirt that the players get to keep. (Players provide their own shorts for competition).

I do 99% of my communication directly with players through the groupme app.
